| Description | Far-left, unabashed Stalinist party and avowed rival of the "revisionist" Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF). Party began as a merger of three parties transformed into an public non-profit organization (некоммерческая организация) founded by former CPRF member Maxim Suraykin, an MP of the Legislative Assembly of Ulyanovsk Oblast, who was nominated by the party for President of Russia in 2018. Party stayed an NG0 for three years until April 22, 2012, as it felt it needed to tread lightly. Suraykin demanded the expulsion of foreigners in retaliation for sanctions imposed on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, but was ironically booted out of the party for alleged friendly connections to many of these same foreigners. Suraykin was replaced by Sergey Makinkovich on March 18, 2022. Party has since expanded operations to 70 Russian regions and has aggressively been running candidates for regional and municipal seats and gubernatorial positions ahead of the September 8, 2024 Russia-wide elections [Коммунистическая партия (CPCR); Коммунисты России (КПКР)]. |
