DescriptionCultural association representing the German community in Romania turned political party born upon the downfall of Nicolae Ceaușescu's dictatorship at the tail-end of 1989. Party is most active in the regions of Transylvania and Banatin, especially among the German-minority communities residing in cities located in the counties of Sibiu and Timiș. Party was co-founded and led between 1990 and 2013 by Romania's current President (since December 21, 2014), and former Sibiu Mayor, Klaus Iohannis. Party has been led by Sibiu county councilor Paul-Jürgen Porr since March 5, 2013 [Forumul Democrat al Germanilor din România (FDGR) and; Das Demokratische Forum der Deutschen in Rumänien or Demokratisches Forum der Deutschen in Rumänien (DFDR)].
