Center-left party with 'social-democratic' roots. Party adheres to the gradualist Socialism of Eduard Bernstein and Karl Kautsky. Losing its way, indebted and its president and founder Gabriel Oprea resigning and facing criminal charges, party sought absorption by the Popular Movement Party (PMP) starting on July 20, 2016, which resulted in failure by June 2018. Gabriel Oprea took hold of the party again in October 2018 in an effort to retract the party's decline [Uniunea Națională pentru Progresul României (UNPR)].
