Description | Agang South Africa is a South African political platform and developing political party. formed by renowned anti-apartheid activist Mamphela Ramphele on 18 February 2013. The party encourages reforms towards direct governance, striving to "build a stronger democracy in which citizens will be at the centre of public life";[2] and intends to challenge the governing African National Congress in the 2014 general election.[3] The name "Agang" is a Sotho word meaning "build". The party's name can also be translated as 'Akhani' in the Nguni languages (Zulu, Venda, Tsonga and Xhosa).
The party is based upon five principles: empowering the people to govern, building effective public services, building a restructured economy, building a modern education and training system and restoring South Africa's position in Africa as well as internationally. |
