Description | Dominant center-right party begun as a coalition of five Ivorian parties proclaiming ideological allegiance to the founder of Côte d'Ivoire, Félix Houphouët-Boigny. Coalition at first consisted of the Union for Ivory Coast, the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire, the Rally of the Republicans (RDR), the Union for Democracy and Peace in Côte d'Ivoire (UDPCI), and the Movement of the Forces of the Future. Among the five, the RDR and the UDPCI decided to merge into a single party on July 16, 2018 and elected the nation's President since May 6, 2011, Alassane Ouattara, to be its leader on January 26, 2019. Party holds 137 out of 255 seats in the Assembly and 50 out of 99 seats in the Senate [Rassemblement des houphouëtistes pour la démocratie et la paix (RHDP)] |
