| Description | Opposition party created out of the remnants of the Solidarity movement, the Republican Party, and the People's Democratic Union. At its onset the Party of People's Freedom is jointly led by Boris Nemtsov, Mikhail Kasyanov, Vladimir Ryzhkov, and Vladimir Milov.
Although the leadership is liberal in its ideology an early overture to Mikhail Gorbachev's Social Democratic Party to join suggests a desire for the Party of People's Freedom to be a broad organization for Kremlin opponents rather than a distinct ideological movement. |
