Center-right party advocating a system of economic liberalism for Guinea which opens up market forces and regulates intervention by the State. Party began as a five-party alliance founded and led by Lansana Kouyaté, the 8th Prime Minister of Guinea and former labor leader. PEDN rallied behind Alpha Condé's effort to become president in 2010, but moved into the opposition after Condé refused to offer Kouyaté a promised ministerial position. Kouyaté organized the Convergence Centriste pour l'Espoir (CCE) coalition after the army takeover on September 5, 2021 with the intent of re-writing Guinea's constitution. The CCE successfully added to the constitution the presidential term of office of five years renewable. Party holds one seat in the newly constituted National Council of the Transition [Le parti de l'espoir pour le développement national (PE.D.N)].
