| Description | Center-left party founded by Spyros Kyprianou, Cyprus' 2nd President (September 3, 1977-February 28, 1988). Party began as a kind of panegyric to Archbishop Makarios, Cyprus' first president from August 16, 1960 until his death on August 3, 1977. Party has since become one of four dominant parties in Cyprus. Kyprianou remained party leader until October 7, 2000. Nikolas Papadopoulos has been president of the party since December 1, 2013 [Δημοκρατικό Κόμμα (ΔΗ.ΚΟ.); Dimokratikó Kómma (DI.KO)]. |
