| Description | Hardline, Islamist party that preaches the thoughts of Necmettin Erbakan, Turkey's 23rd Prime Minister and founder of the Welfare Party (banned in 1998). Party founders emerged from the banned Virtue Party in 2001. Party seeks to add to the charter of the European Convention on Human Rights the line "Morality and Spirituality First" and a seeks a special religious status for Turkey. Party has been led since October 30, 2016 by the former mayor of Sivas and prominent Islamist Temel Karamollaoğlu [Saadet Partisi (SP)]. |
