Marxist-Leninist, pro Russia/pro China ruling party of the Republic of the Congo. Party was founded by Congo's third President turned dictator, Marien Ngouabi (January 1, 1969, to March 18, 1977 (assassinated)). Ngouabi renamed the country the "People's Republic of the Congo" declaring it to be Africa's first Marxist–Leninist state. The PCT was the country's sole legal political party for decades and continues to dominate the nation.
