Description | Center-right, 'classical liberal' party founded by journalist and personality Anders Lange in 1973 as the protest party "Anders Lange's Party for a sharp reduction of taxes, fees and public intervention" (ALP). Party stood for economic liberalism, anti-communism, lower taxes and fees and less bureaucracy. After Lange's death in late 1974, ALP was renamed the Progress Party (FrP) in 1977. FrP's been led by 2021 prime ministerial candidate Sylvi Listhaug since May 8, 2021 [Fremskrittspartiet (FrP)]. |
