Description | Center-right Serbian-nationalist party active in both the Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Party was founded in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) by psychiatrist and professor Jovan Rašković, a leading defender of Serbs living in Croatia. Before the SFRY dissolved in 1992, party established chapters in three of the federation's six republics; Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. It later expanded to the Republika Srpska and the short-lived Republika Srpska Krajina (1991-1995). The party's umbrella organization is the "SDS of Serbian countries," whose president was Radovan Karadžić until 1996. Party holds 12 seats in the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska and two seats in the House of Representatives of PS BiH. Party president has been Milan Miličević since November 12, 2022 [Srpska demokratska stranka (SDS)]. |
