| Description | Center-left to centrist party formerly known as the Party of Green Actions [Stranka zelenih dejanj (Z.DEJ)] established on May 8, 2021 and founded by the former Slovenian Minister of the Environment, Jure Leben. Party supported closing coal mines and decarbonizing Slovenia. An internal revolt brought on by party rank-and-file unhappy with Leben's leadership, hardline stances and poor performance forced the resignation of Leben in January 2022. Party was then reestablished under its new leader businessman Robert Golob as the Gibanje Svoboda (Freedom Movement) on January 26, 2022. Golob managed to reshape Svoboda to become Slovenia's electoral leader ahead of parliamentary elections planned for April 24, 2022. Golob became prime-minister designate after Svoboda succeeded in picking up 41 seats in the 90-seat National Assembly [Gibanje Svoboda (GS)]. |
