Fundamentalist group begun as one of two factions within the political group Front of Transformationalist Principlists (جبهه اصولگرایان تحولخواه) founded by petroleum engineer Mohammad Javad Ameri, the other faction being the Society of Devotees of the Islamic Revolution. Group identifies itself as "principlist," a political strain that supports the principle of rule by clerics and a Supreme Leader. The group was co-founded by Tehran's 47th Mayor and 2021 and 2024 presidential candidate, Alireza Zakani, who was also the group's first general secretary. Group linked itself initially to the political ambitions of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
