DescriptionRep. Dean Phillips has begun signaling to fellow House members that he plans to launch a challenge to President Joe Biden.

Two people familiar with the discussions said that the Minnesota Democrat has told some colleagues of his intent to run, though a third person who has talked to Phillips recently said he had demurred when asked. That person said Phillips was clearly considering it but when asked point blank whether he was running, replied: “We’ll see.”

I didn't think he was that serious/deluded.

I'm curious. Does anyone have experience in leasing a campaign bus? How much does that run? $100k/mo? More? Guessing there must be some customization costs and these things probably are re-used for different campaigns over a few years at least.

I mean, he's got no chance but I do like to see the incumbent get challenged no matter what. Like when Bill Weld challenged Trump in the 2020 primaries.

Admittedly, I read "Dean" emblazoned across the bus and assumed this guy pulled a Howard Dean hand-me-down out of the scrap heap. But this guy's immensely wealthy (like $100M), so has evidently run out of vanity-boosting things to blow his fortune on. Tells you what he knows about affordability.

EDIT: This guy looks uncannily like a cross between Ron DeSantis and Doug Burgum.

Ahhh. Should have looked into his net worth. I was wondering how much he would need to pull in on donations to lease a bus for the next year. But sounds like he can just write a check and use it as an RV after he loses.

He may not have to completely self fund if he can tap into the grassroots infrastructure built by John Delaney in 2020

I think President Biden has done a spectacular job for our country. But it’s not about the past. This is an election about the future. - Dean Phillips [Link]

Dean Phillips only cares about himself. He's a clown.

Among other things this is serving to debunk the myth that has been pervasive in recent years that Americans are clamoring for younger leaders.

He's a better candidate than Biden.
