Then Twitter broke.
The app repeatedly crashed Wednesday night as thousands of listeners attempted to tune in to hear the Florida governor announce he was entering the race for the GOP presidential nomination. Thirty minutes into the event, DeSantis was finally able to begin speaking. |

Ordinarily, I might say people have a short memory, and this won't matter very much.
And it's true it won't count against him much per se...but that's not the point.
The point is that his official announcement speech was an opportunity.
And when you are trying to take the nomination away from a presumptive front-runner,
then this isn't the sort of opportunity one can afford to muck up.
Anyone happen to know how tall Glenn Youngkin is?

Maybe DeSantis was trying to channel a Fireside Chat energy. I agree people have short memory but the optics are still bad so until Donald Trump gets charged with something or the Florida legislature passes another weird law this is what’s DeSantis is stuck with. And btw the average voter does not care or realize he raised 2 mil in a day, as impressive as it may be.
