Congressman David Minge, DFL, this morning (Dec. 12) conceded the election in the 2nd Congressional District to Republican challenger Mark Kennedy.
A recount of the election had been taking place in the 2nd at the behest of Minge.

I congratulate Mark Kennedy on his success and wish him the best in his service in the 107th Congress. I pledge my cooperation in the transition, said Minge in a press release.
The election is over and it is time to work together as Americans, Minge said.
According to the Minge Recount Fund, the original difference between Minge and Kennedy was one-twentieth of one percent of the vote.
While that margin narrowed during the recount phase, Minge ended the recount when it became apparent he could no longer win, according to supporters.
The certified vote count showed Kennedy defeating Minge by 155 votes.
The recount total has the vote count at 139,258 votes for Minge and 139,406 for Kennedy.
Minnesotas 2nd Congressional District consists of 29 counties with 803 precincts.
Minge is completing his fourth term as congressman from the 2nd District.
