HELENA - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Brian Schweitzer has extended his fund-raising lead over all challengers, with more than a 2-to-1 edge over his nearest competitor, new campaign finance reports show.
Filed with the state commissioner of political practices office Wednesday, the reports indicate Schweitzer has raised $728,725 through the end of the last reporting period, March 5. That includes almost $101,000 that the Whitefish farmer collected during the first 65 days of this year.
In contrast, Republican Pat Davison reported total contributions of $337,822, with $78,495 of that raised since Jan. 1. Secretary of State Bob Brown, locked in a close race with Davison for the GOP nomination, has raised $268,503 so far, including $76,314 in the last reporting period. |
