Description | Louisville Metro Council members concerned about whether then-Councilman Vitalis Lanshima could legally represent District 21 while running for office in Nigeria may never get their answer.
The Kentucky Attorney General's office wrote in a Jan. 28 letter that the council's October request for an opinion was "moot" since Lanshima left office on Jan. 7.
"Because Mr. Lanshima is no longer a Council Member, his eligibility does not present such a situation, and we may not render an opinion in response to a hypothetical question," Assistant Attorney General Marc Farris wrote to council president David James and H. Stephen Ott, the council clerk, in a letter obtained by the Courier Journal through an open records request. |
