Description | Citing a new poll that shows that independent Congressional candidate Nick Troiano would be running neck and neck with Republican Tom Marino if they were the only two candidates in the race, Troiano on Wednesday called on his Democratic opponent to quit the race.
According to the poll, in a three-way race, 38 percent of likely voters prefer Marino, 26 percent of likely voters prefer Democrat Scott Brion, and 16 percent of them prefer Troiano, a press release issued on Wednesday by the Troiano campaign stated.
However, the poll showed that in a two-way matchup between Troiano and Marino, the race is "neck and neck," with Marino preferred over Troiano 38 percent to 33 percent, said Russell Verney, a political advisor to Troiano's campaign.
Considering that the poll's margin of error is 4.4 percent, Troiano might even be running ahead of Marino in the two-way matchup, said Rachel Vierling, Troiano's policy director. |
