Description | Liberal activist Ed Fallon of Des Moines said today he plans to fight a defamation of character lawsuit filed against him last week by U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell, an Iowa Democrat.
Boswell sued Fallon on Friday in Polk County District Court after the activist publicly claimed that Boswell tried to bribe him not to run in a Democratic primary election in 2008.
Fallon claimed last week on his website, the Fallon Forum, that Boswell had an aide offer him an $80,000-a-year job in the congressman’s office doing constituent services. Boswell said the allegation is false. Boswell defeated Fallon in the primary by a margin of 61 to 39 percent.
Fallon, a former Democratic state legislator, issued a statement today which said he has hired Des Moines lawyer Joseph Glazebrook to represent him. |
