Description | LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Two people familiar with his plans tell The Associated Press that Democratic Congressman Mike Ross of Arkansas will not seek re-election.
The people requested anonymity in order to speak ahead of Ross' official announcement. The congressman, who is the only Democrat from Arkansas in the U.S. House, plans a 10 a.m. news conference in Little Rock.
Ross has served six terms in Arkansas' 4th District, which includes much of south Arkansas but was extended into Fayetteville during redistricting this year.
He was first elected to the House in 2000 and has previously expressed interest in running for governor in 2014. |
