Description | GOP Rep. Lou Barletta -- the Democrats' top target in Pennsylvania -- has his first official challenger: Wilkes-Barre attorney and first-time candidate Bill Vinsko.
"I believe there are many important issues facing northeast Pennsylvania. This area is very unique, and we need a strong voice in Washington to protect our seniors and our veterans, and protect the middle class," Vinsko told POLITICO Thursday after announcing his candidacy. He vowed to fight against cuts in Medicare.
Former Rep. Chris Carney, Lackawanna County Commissioner Corey O'Brien and Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty are all said to be mulling runs. But the uncertain contours of the new district have all three in a wait-and-see mode. |
