Description | A Utah legislator planned to force a vote over seating him after he was disqualified because he lives outside his district, he said Friday.
State Rep. Craig Frank, R-Cedar Hills, said he planned to be in the House of Representatives when the 2011 session begins Jan. 24.
Representatives would have to vote to seat or expel him. If a special election is held for his seat before the session, they would also have to choose between Frank and the replacement chosen by Republican delegates.
"It's my intent to represent the people of my district who elected me," Frank said.
Frank was re-elected to represent House District 57 in November. But he was disqualified Monday after he told legislative attorneys that he realized he did not live in his district.
According to Utah County election maps, Frank lives in District 57. But state election maps are different, putting Frank and about 2,500 other people in a neighboring district. |
