Description | Doug Hoffman, the darling of the tea party movement in 2009 when he challenged the Republicans’ choice in a special election for an open House seat in northern New York, has done it again.
Despite losing the party’s Sept. 14 primary, Hoffman will stay in the race on the Conservative Party line, as he had promised.
That could propel the Democratic incumbent, Bill Owens, to another term in the seat, a remarkable feat considering that before Owens, the North Country district had elected Republicans stretching back to the Civil War. |
