Description | While the conservative news station is suing her over a campaign ad, the Democratic Senate hopeful is using the court battle to help boost her own finances.
Late Wednesday, the Fox News Network filed a lawsuit in federal court in Kansas City, seeking to block a Carnahan ad that includes a 2006 Fox News segment critical of her Republican rival, Roy Blunt.
Fox contends that the ad constitutes copyright infringement, and makes it appear as if anchor Chris Wallace is endorsing Carnahan.
Carnahan's lawyers have not yet entered an appearance in the case, but her campaign manager has weighed in -- hoping the imbroglio with Fox will shake loose some campaign cash.
"We believe we have the right to make sure voters see our ad. We're not backing down, we're not giving up," Carnahan campaign chief Mindy Mazur wrote in an email to supporters Thursday evening. "We're staying on TV and fighting back. Make a donation now to help us fight back."
