Description | An aide to Assemblywoman Carmen E. Arroyo was arrested Wednesday on charges that he impersonated a police officer and stole $4,000 from an apartment in the Bronx, the police said.
The aide, Wilfredo Nazario, 31, was awaiting arraignment on charges of robbery and impersonating an officer; there was no phone number listed at his address. After-hours calls to the assemblywoman’s offices in the Bronx and Albany were not immediately returned.
The police said Mr. Nazario and an accomplice flashed a fake badge and a weapon to get into the apartment. They told the two residents that they were officers, broke into a locked room and stole the money, which the father of one of the residents had saved to buy a car, the police said.
