Description | A man has been arrested in what federal and South Carolina authorities believe may be a hate crime. The suspect is accused of murdering a black man and dragging the victim's body behind a pickup truck.
Gregory Ashton Collins, 19, was arrested Wednesday after a three-hour standoff with officers outside his trailer in Newberry. A trail of evidence led officers to his mobile home after the body of a black man was found along U.S. Highway 176.
The victim has been identified as Anthony Lamont Hill, 30. According to a statement from the Newberry County Sheriff's Office, he died after a single gunshot wound to the head and was dragged for more than 10 miles to until the nylon rope tied around his neck broke.
