Description | Governor Tim Pawlenty will face off against the Minnesota media in a charity hockey game to raise funds for the planned Minnesota World War II Memorial. The Memorial has been a long-time goal of veteran organizations. The Memorial design was unveiled on December 7, 2003. The game will help secure funds for its completion.
The game will take place on January 11th, starting at 5:00 pm and will be held at the Veterans Memorial Arena, 8055 Barbara Ave., Inver Grove Heights. This event will include many of Minnesota's most prominent political, military and civic leaders, as well as a host of local media celebrities and hockey legends. After the game, there will be open skating with all of the players and celebrities.
The event is free and open to the public, with a free-will donation available. A silent auction of hockey and military items will also be held.
