Description | Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (D-Mich.) faces four opponents in Michigan's Democratic primary.
Today was Michigan's filing deadline, and Kilpatrick used it to announce her candidacy for an eighth term. But according to local press reports, the veteran Congresswoman fielded a lot of uncomfortable questions about her son, who at one time was the youngest mayor ever elected in Detroit.
Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted of obstruction of justice, and now is awaiting sentencing for a probation violation.
State Sen. Hansen Clarke and three other Democrats filed petitions by today's deadline to run for the Congressional nomination. |
