Description | California Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina said Wednesday that proposed federal legislation on financial reform would create another government bureaucracy instead of solving the industry's problems.
The former Hewlett-Packard chief executive told reporters that the bills proposed by Democrats in Congress should focus on what went wrong in the country's regulatory agencies.
The legislation is being debated in Washington and is intended to prevent another economic meltdown.
"Clearly we had twenty-plus agencies in the government already that are supposed to be watching over Wall Street and preventing excesses, and they all failed," Fiorina said.
"However, rather than actually fix that problem and understand why all those agencies with that responsibility failed, what we're doing is ignoring all that and creating yet another agency." |
