DescriptionFormer Hewlett-Packard Co. chief executive Carly Fiorina, who is currently a candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in California, had no knowledge of any bribe payments to secure a lucrative contract in Russia during her tenure, a spokeswoman said Friday.

U.S., German and Russian authorities are currently investigating whether executives of the U.S. computer giant paid millions of dollars in bribes seven years ago to win a contract in Russia.

Wolfgang Klein, a spokesman for prosecutors in the German city of Dresden, said Friday that prosecutors were investigating whether HP paid EUR8 million in bribes to win a EUR35 million contract to sell equipment, through a German subsidiary, to Russia's prosecutor general.

Fiorina spokeswoman Amy Thoma said in a statement that "Carly has no knowledge of these alleged actions.

"When she served as the CEO of HP if she had been aware of any illegal or inappropriate behavior by any employee she would have taken action immediately to terminate the parties involved," the spokeswoman said.
