Description Attorney General Mike Hatch sued New Access Communications on Monday, alleging consumer fraud and deceptive trade practices at the phone service reseller linked to Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
Hatch's lawsuit accused New Access of misrepresenting the cost of local and long-distance phone services it sold. The lawsuit claims New Access failed to make clear that its long-distance rates did not include long-distance calls within Minnesota, and that quoted fees did not include regulatory fees.
The lawsuit also claims that New Access misrepresented its identity and that quoted prices for optional features were less than the actual price.
The complaint, filed in Ramsey County District Court, seeks an injunction, civil penalties and restitution for customers.
