Description | Former Democratic Lt. Gov. John Carney said Monday he will continue to run for Delaware’s at-large seat in the House, despite Democrat Beau Biden’s announcement that he will not seek the state’s open Senate seat.
Biden’s decision not to challenge GOP Rep. Mike Castle has left the party without a top challenger for the seat formerly held by Vice President Joe Biden. The current seat-holder, appointed Democratic Sen. Ted Kaufman, said Monday that he will not run for the seat either.
“As I've made clear since I announced last April, I am running for Congress,” said Carney, in a statement. “Delawareans deserve a Congressman who will always put Delaware first; one who will work tirelessly to create jobs and get our economy moving again.” |
