Description | The New Hampshire Supreme Court today rejected an appeal from former congressional candidate Gary Dodds, who was convicted of faking a disappearance after a car crash in 2006.
Dodds was convicted in February 2008 of falsifying evidence, causing a false public alarm and leaving the scene of the crash that prosecutors said he staged to boost his faltering congressional campaign. He was never a serious contender and finished third in a four-way Democratic primary.
Defense attorney Andrew Schulman argued before the court in May that the state hadn’t proven its case and the charges didn’t fit Dodds’ alleged crime. The court, in its unanimous opinion, disagreed. |
