Description | The 'Reverend Billy' is a man on a mission. He wants the world to change their shopping habits and use local shops instead of big chain stores.
Reverend Billy is the creation of New Yorker Bill Talen. His anti-consumerism performances have upset Starbucks so much that they've banned him from going within two hundred and fifty yards of the 1500 shops they run in California.
Reverend Billy goes into high-profile chain stores, accompanied by a large 'stop shopping' Gospel choir. Their performance is based on the idea of preaching against large companies with the hope that people will reduce their spending habits and focus their money on local communities instead.
He also gave Matthew Bannister a practical demonstration of a credit card exorcism in the Outlook studio. |
