Description | PELHAM, Ala. - State Sen. Hank Erwin of Montevallo launched a Republican campaign for lieutenant governor Sunday, saying he can provide the leadership to bring function to the dysfunctional Senate.
Erwin, 60, is the first Republican to announce a bid for lieutenant governor, whose duties include presiding over the Senate. He said Alabama voters view the Democrat-controlled Senate as a group that can't get along and can't get much done - except for raising its own pay.
"If you are going to improve things, you've got to change the leadership of the Alabama Senate," he told about 100 people at the Pelham Civic Center. |
