Description | Frank Bogert, former mayor of Palm Springs and one of the most colorful characters in the city's history, died Sunday night. He was 99.
"He passed away last night," surrounded by loved ones, said Bogert's grandson, Pancho Russell.
Russell said Bogert had been hospitalized but had been home for the last several days.
"He's had the most remarkable life of anyone I've ever known or heard of," said Tracy Conrad, chief operating officer of Smoke Tree Ranch and co-owner of the Willows Historic Palm Springs Inn.
"He was just an incredible role model ... he is to be emulated, not just for longevity but for the quality of his life."
