Description | Second-term Flint Mayor Donald Williamson faces a special recall election next month.
Genesee County elections director Doreen Fulcher says the Feb. 24 vote results from claims that Williamson mismanaged city funds and violated the public trust by misrepresenting the city’s financial condition by several million dollars.
It also claims Williamson endangered public safety by proposing the elimination of 59 police officers and nine firefighters in the city about 50 miles northwest of Detroit.
Williamson, a Democrat, was re-elected in 2007 and has said he will run for governor this year.
Three members of the Westwood Heights school board in Genesee County are on the same recall ballot. They are accused of supporting the district’s superintendent in personnel issues. |
