inda Winikow, who rose from PTA activist to state senator before her conviction on felony corruption charges stemming from her job with Orange and Rockland Utilities, has died at age 68.

Winikow died Sunday in Sarasota, Fla., where she settled several years ago. A service was held Tuesday at Temple Beth Sholom in Sarasota, with burial following in the temple's cemetery.

Although the scandal forever tarnished her reputation, those who knew her said Winikow's political and public service accomplishments should not be forgotten.
