DescriptionWith less than two weeks to go before Guam's May 3 Democratic caucuses, the island's voters have contributed $5,200 to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign compared with $4,500 for Sen. Barack Obama's, according to an analysis of their most recent disclosure reports.

Presumptive Republican nominee John McCain also has received $1,530 in contributions, according to the analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Although Guam residents cannot vote in the presidential election, the island's Democratic Party will send 11 delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver Aug. 25-28 to vote on the nominee.

The caucus is particularly exciting this year because Guam's votes could make the difference for the Democratic presidential nomination, said Democratic Sen. Tina Muña-Barnes, whose office was the site of the initial local meetings for the Clinton campaign.

Both Democratic contenders have paid some attention to Guam. Obama has three staffers working on the island while Clinton has organized her campaign under state director Rena Borja.

Borja yesterday said as many as 3,000 Democrats could vote in this year's Guam caucus, although there could be more since the race between Clinton and Obama is very close and could spark additional local interest.
