Description | Carl Lanke has been certified by the Broward elections office as the winner of Miramar's tight City Commission race.
The results were certified late Tuesday night, said Mary Cooney, elections office public affairs director.
The office usually reconvenes two days after the election to certify results, but the Miramar election's low turnout made it possible to review all ballots in one night, Cooney said.
Lanke, a treasurer with the South Broward Drainage District, won 497 votes in Tuesday's election, 13 votes more -- or slightly higher than one-half a percent -- than his nearest opponent, Barbara Sharief.
