Description | HOBBS, N.M. -- Hobbs Mayor Monty Newman has confirmed what many people recently have been talking about.
He said he's running for Congress in the 2nd District.
Newman said Friday that he wants to do the best he can to participate in society.
The 2nd District includes all or parts of 18 counties spanning southern New Mexico.
The seat is being vacated by Republican Steve Pearce, who is running for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, along with Rep. Heather Wilson of New Mexico's 1st District.
Newman will face four other candidates seeking the GOP nomination in the 2nd District.
If elected to Congress, Newman said he would keep troops stationed in Iraq and advocate for more tax dollars to be spent on the country's infrastructure. |
