Description"The political futures of Republican Senate President John Bennett and GOP Assembly members Michael Arnone and Clare Farragher may depend on 2,700 people who voted for conservative Richard Pezzullo against Bennett in the June primary.

The question, political observers say, is how many of those voters go to the polls in November to vote for Bennett, R-Little Silver, in his re-election bid against Democrat Ellen Karcher in the 12th Legislative District.

"The race is a dead heat, so if many of them decide not to vote for Bennett that creates a very difficult situation for Bennett and possibly the rest of the ticket, although people who voted for Pezzullo may come out to vote for Arnone and Farragher," said one observer of the closely watched race that is one of a handful expected to determine which party will gain control of the now evenly divided state Senate."
