Description | MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Former state Sen. Gary George's alliance with the Hmong has always been controversial.
There was the time he helped slip $3 million in the state budget in the middle of the night to build a Hmong cultural center in his Milwaukee district. He also led protests of a University of Wisconsin-Madison historian who had accused General Vang Pao, a hero to many Hmong, of drug trafficking.
But plotting to overthrow a foreign government?
A federal investigator has implicated the Democrat and a former aide who once led his outreach to the Hmong community in a plot with the general to violently overthrow the communist Laotian government. |
