HERALD-LEADER POLITICAL WRITER
FRANKFORT - As word spread across the state that former U.S. Rep. Anne Northup was "on the verge" of running for governor, Kentucky Republicans began choosing sides in what is shaping up to be a fiercely competitive three-way GOP primary.
Several top party officials -- including U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell and Lt. Gov. Steve Pence -- gave subtle nods of approval to a Northup candidacy yesterday.
But the state legislature appears divided. |
