Description | According to several sources, when Comptroller Alan Hevesi resigns it is Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr., who will take his place.
Several sources both in and out of Albany have told NY Press that Governor-elect Eliot Spitzer and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, the two men who control the process of picking Hevesi’s replacement, have decided that Carrion is the perfect consensus candidate for the post.
Carrion would also break up the racial monotony that exists in Albany’s highest offices, all of which are currently held by white men. With the appointment, Carrion would become the first Latino to hold the post, and one of the highest profile Latino politicians in the nation. |
