Description | The attorney general's race goes public with a call for top Republicans and Democrats to support their own.
Gov. Jeb Bush headlines a fundraiser later this month in Orlando for congressman-turned-lobbyist Bill McCollum, the Republican nominee. Bush promises to stump alongside McCollum as well.
"It's a real boost for our campaign," said McCollum's manager, Phil Vangelakos.
McCollum likely will face Democrat Walter "Skip" Campbell. The Fort Lauderdale attorney and state senator was opposed by Merrilee Ehrlich in the Democratic primary, but she did not actively campaign.
In preliminary results early Tuesday evening, Campbell led with 48,651 votes, or 60.4 percent. Ehrlich had 31,903 votes, or 39.6 percent.
Campbell is wasting no time raising money for the November general election. His fundraiser tonight in Broward County has 70 hosts, including former Attorney General Bob Butterworth. |
