Description | Jason Altmire, the Democratic nominee in Pennsylvania’s 4th District near Pittsburgh, argues that his conservative stances on some social issues will attract Democrats who have voted in years past for three-term Republican Rep. Melissa A. Hart. Neutralizing Hart on social issues will help make his district just as winnable for Democrats as some of the more prominent fights in the Philadelphia suburbs, Altmire argues.
Altmire describes himself as a good ideological match for the district, where many residents frown upon cultural liberalism. He said he opposes abortion and supports gunowners’ rights — practically prerequisites for a Democrat in the 4th. |
