Description | An Augusta lawyer was elected Tuesday to fill the state Senate seat left vacant by the federal conviction of Charles Walker.
Ed Tarver received 63.3 percent of the ballots -- 8,074 votes -- cast in the nonpartisan special election for Georgia Senate District 22. Tarver defeated former state representatives Ben Allen and George Brown.
Tarver will take office as soon as state officials certify the election results.
Tarver said he was not surprised to win the special election. |
